Scott Mawhinney joined The Kingsbury, Colombo and he brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise to propel The Kingsbury to even greater heights in hospitality. He has over 30 years of international hotel experience at senior management level.
Scott’s impressive career is not limited to just hotel experience, he has also mastered the science of hospitality with an Executive MBA, Graduate Hotel Management and Administration Diploma from The Lausanne Hotel School, A Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, Cornell Hotel School Certificates in Financial Management and Yield Management, and several professional development courses.
Scott’s exemplary track record has added a few extra feathers to his cap such as excellence in delivering guest satisfaction, marketing, continuous operational improvement, and financial management achievements. He is also a strategic thinker, with the ability to manage all key functional areas of a business; while leading others to excel in meeting the demands of a highly competitive industry.
His extensive Hotel Opening Experiences at senior management level include establishing the Standards and Procedures for Butler Service and Guest Services for World’s first Seven Star hotel - Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai and Shangri-La’s Al Husn 6* Resort in Muscat, Oman and accounts for over 8 years experience with Shangri-La Hotel & Resorts.
His eloquence in English, French and Spanish is yet another set of skills The Kingsbury will be able to draw from in catering to high-end European markets just as much as his Food & Beverage and Marketing expertise. The Kingsbury having just won the prestigious ‘Hotel of the Year’ and the ‘Restaurant of the year’ by Luxury Travel Guide UK 2015 and also bagged the Continent Winner; Indian Ocean - ‘Best Luxury Business Hotel’ at the recently concluded Luxury Hotel Awards 2015 in Hong Kong is certainly making their mark in the global hospitality industry.
