Charmaine Jones and Alex Wignall to WOW audience at The Kingsbury with smooth Jazz

27th September, Colombo:  Sri Lankan-born, Australian performer, vocal educator, choral conductor and arranger Chairmaine Jones will be accompanied by fellow live performer, accompanist and music educator Alex Wignall as they captivate audiences at The Kingsbury on 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th October. The Duo will perform from 7pm at the Kings Bar.

Charmaine Jones is admired for her improvisational concepts and has collaborated with international performers including Michael Buble, Leo Sayer, Mama Kin, Paul Kelly and Paul Grabowsky, to list a few. She has spent 12 years as a Jazz Vocal lecturer at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide University and is the founder/director of the acclaimed gospel-esque choral experience the ‘Gospo Collective’. In addition, she is part of the panel of 100 judges in the Australian Channel 7 Television show, ‘All Together Now’ with Ronan Keating, and hosted by Julia Zemiro. She has headlined for the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in ‘ASO Does Disco’ and more recently backing a host of Australian icons led by John Foreman including Hugh Sheridan and Rob Mills with ‘George Michael: Listen to your Heart’. Charmaine’s reputation of ‘Adelaide’s Vocal Darling’ keeps reinstating, as she displays time and time again her versatility in her repertoire, range and timbre

Alex Wignall is an accomplished live performer, session musician, arranger, accompanist, and music educator.  He too studied music at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide, specializing in Jazz piano. Afterwards he relocated to the USA to complete his Masters Degree in Jazz Performance at the Jacobs School of Music. Since then, Alex has toured the US and Europe in various ensembles and styles. After recording numerous albums as a sideman, Alex launched his first album ‘Solitude’ in late 2017, and followed it with his second album ‘Waiting for August’ in early 2018. Alex currently works with Logie award winning Australian performer Hugh Sheridan in his project ‘California Crooners Club’ and has previously worked with the likes of Darmon Meader from New York Voices as well as Jamey Abersold and Johnny Manuel from America’s Got Talent.
